It may surprise you to learn that Japanese companies are still making video cassette recorders, but this fact won't remain useful for too long — manufacturing will cease at the end of the month. Funai Electric, a company that produces its own consumer electronics as well as handling production for other, larger companies, is the only remaining Japanese manufacturer of VCRs, but Nikkei reports it'll close down the lines by August.

Those 2 vcrs can still be used. The trick is to find the calendar year that matches the current year calendar. The only issue will be the leap year problem. You may need to readjust the date on March 1st.

I'll let him know about that thanks. Cause he still uses them. I bought him a dvd recorder that works like a vcr but he still insists on using the vcr. I asked him what he was going to do when they don't make blank vcr tapes no more. He said he will go to second hand stores buy movie tapes and record over them. So i guess he thought of that before lol. My dad is smart i'll give him that.

I still have two VCRs. Rarely use them. If nothing good on TV I pop in some Stargate episodes
