Windows 7 release date

When do you think Windows 7 final will be released to the public?

I think it will be released between August & September 2009.

That's a common question will all kinds of speculations on just when the finished 7 will be available. Some look at certain articles or blogs(non MS that is) and ponder on December while the actual MS trend is typically for the beginning of the year like the end of January 2010,

Vista was 1/31/07 there, XP was early 2001 there. The history of Windows is one place to get a better idea on when 7 is likely to see the general release of the finished product line. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/WinHistoryDesktop.mspx

I would tend to lean towards the end of the year if not early 2010 due to the fact that the anytime upgrade offer for 7 like was seen with Vista won't be seen until 7/1/09. The second public beta if there's going to be one still has to be seen with the first 7000 build expiring on 8/1/09 a month later. Offset that by 3-4 months for any final product release.

When you start seeing MS information posted at the 7 home page then you will have more to go by there. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/ I'm sure everybody by now has had a good look at that page.

October 31st 2009 plus or minus two weeks, based on financial reporting periods for MS, and for release in time for the start of the Christmas shopping season in the United States and elsewhere.

Some seem to forget that 7 is still in the beta stage and not even into the Release Candidate arena quite yet. You're not going to pinpoint any exact date until MS is ready to make any official press release.
