    How to install xp on 16 bit computer (Pentium 1)


    anyone know how this can be done...floppy disks...please help

    Hmm you might want to find "Doc" for this one. The main thing I could say would be to have another computer and copy the cd to the hard drive then put the hard drive into the machine boot it and run the setup from drive, I use to do that with 98 on machine with no cd-roms, but I dont know if XP would lilke it too much but hey give it a shot why not.

    Yeah its a project for school, apparently theres a file you need to copy from the xp setup folder to install on 16 bit...check out bootdisks.com I loaded the OS onto floppy disks but it still wont work

    probably 409.

    The Pentium is also a 32bit processor.

    these are the last 16bit processors from Intel,
    8086 · 8088 · 80186 · 80188 · 80286

    Ok...I kinof didnt give all the info. You need to use the windows 98 boot disc and installl dos right. Then you use dos to open the WINNT file in the xp setup folder.
