Man receives $28,067.37 data overage charge from AT&T

Quote:
A Slingbox and a wireless data plan are like oil and water because many carriers put a cap on data limits for your wireless data access. When overages like this occur it's generally an uneducated user blowing his cap out of the water.

An AT&T subscriber uses his data card with a slingbox to stream cable broadcasts to his laptop. While sitting in the port of Miami about to set sail for a Caribbean cruise he wanted to watch the Chicago Bears play before he left for a relaxing vacation. After watching about two hours of the game the boat was leaving port and he didn't want to be charged roaming fee's so he turned off his laptop.

That made me laugh

It was a good thing that man went to the media and AT&T admitted the fault. That is one battle won.

Thanks Aaron

Thats so funny. I don't like AT&T, but whatever.

For an accurate representation of AT&T in this instance, see my new avatar.

Zomg if i got a bill like that i'd probablly keel over and die. haha but yeah AT&T is not the greatest....but their not perfect. But still good thing they brought it down thats a little over kill to be charging.

BTW The "Rogue signal" he was picking up could have been from the ship. Cruise ships actually provide wireless communications for cellphones via Satalite, But they charge an arm and a leg for using it. Maybe thats what drove his bill up?
