Windows 7: A green goddess: Two-tailed comet snapped streaking past Earth

We have known of its existence for only two years. But one scientist has captured an awe-inspiring picture of comet Lulin as it streaked past Earth on its ever-onward journey.

Glowing an eerie green, it came within 38million miles of Earth yesterday, the closest it has ever been, and about the same distance away as Mars.

Richard Richins from New Mexico State University snapped this spectacular picture in calm conditions two nights ago.

Cool. Anyone here mess with Stellarium? It's awesome and handy when it comes to finding stuff like this in your local nightsky.

Tonight i will be watching the sky to see comet!

Hi , Weedmonk, I installed that program in Vista ,it installed ok but when I try to open it,it gives me the stellarium.exe has stopped working ,a problem caused..... blah blah.. so it mustn't like Vista 64 bit.?

Dang that sucks. Just for kicks did you try to run it via Compatibility?

Yes i tried the usual ,pity I would have liked to try it out ,I'll try it out on my laptop now it is 32bit, and I will see if it works on that, and I will probably hound you asking questions in the beginning, now that you told me about it.

I wish I had my telescope back. Especially after that March 2008 GRB I missed!
