Who came here for help and then decided to stay??

    Me!

Joined a week ago to get someone to help me with my BSoD issues (which have not been resolved despite everyone's best efforts ), and thought this was a pretty cool, friendly forum.

TBH, I usually hang out on parenting forums and this has been a nice change of pace.

As I wrote in my intro on the welcome thread, I am not sure how much I can contribute (technically challenged which is unfortunate considering the calibre of IT gurus in my immediate family) but I don't know, I really kinda like it here.

So fess up... who came here just to get advice or help and decided to stay??

I came here investigating Widows 7 when it was in the pre-RC stage, just wondering what it was. Was able to glom onto (that's the technical term :) ) various builds in both 32- and 64-bit versions. Got hooked.

This is one of the most friendly forums I've been to and I really appreciate the efforts of the mods to keep things clean and legal.

I agree with it being one of the friendliest forums and haven't seem evidence of over- modding. Would like to contribut more but need to learn more first. I am the black 'techno' sheep of my family.

I was recommended here by a friend when i had some partitioning issues.
gregrocker (if my memory serves correct) came to the rescue and helped me immensely.

It was some months later i was browsing the amazing tutorial section and noticed we could submit our own, i did and the rest is history.

I came here from the Vista Forums where I initially arrived from Google whilst researching an issue. Don't even remember the actual issue

Found the forum was unlike the vast majority of others I'd used in the past, and found myself coming back more and more, as much for the community as the just technical content, (which is always of a higher quality than most other forums).

I have found some very helpful people here but unfortunately my problem wasn't an easy fix and my new computer has gone back to the supplier. Turn around will be slow given the time of year - so very very annoying.

Was loving windows 7 in the brief moments I could experience it and can't wait to get back onto it again.

I showed up at Vistax64 for help, and learned so much that I decided I needed to give something back. Thought I'd spend a few weeks helping where I could. 22 months later.

I was googling for an answer with a vista problem and so arrived at vista64 forums and then just followed the link to here when the forum went live.
