Is there a doctor in the house? (NOT for the squeemish) LOL, I hesitate to post this... but on 22 December I had a knee operation (one I've had previously, so I knew - or at least I thought I knew - what to expect...) to repair a torn cartilege... anyway, the damned leg is looking like I've been in a fight with a juganaut... and come second...
I realise I ain't gonna win Miss World with this photo parade, and I'm sorry if it puts you off your supper... but does anyone know whether this is just bruising, and if it's normal (never had it last time!) or whether I'm going down with thrombosis or blood poisoning... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built machine OS W7 x64 CPU Intel Q9300 2.5Ghz Quad LGA775 (Would like Q9650) Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R (F6 Bios) Memory 4Gb OCZ Gold 1,333Mhz Graphics Card Palit HD4850 O/C Sonic 512Mb DDR3, Dual DViD's Sound Card Azalia to twin Samson 50w Studio Monitors Monitor(s) Displays Twin Dell (E-IPS) U2311H 23.6" Screens Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz Keyboard Cherry PS/2 custom model Mouse Logitech M500 Laser Mouse PSU OCZ 600w Case Lian-Li PC8 acoustifoamed' aluminium tower Cooling Scythe 140mm Zipang Hard Drives Twin 1Tb Barracuda archivage, Twin TV/PVR 2Tb Samsungs, (80Gb Barracuda for the OS, but SSD envisaged...) It's not gonna let me sleep very easily... but I can't seem to get to speak to a real doctor here at this time of night over the holiday period, and I can't drive myself to the nearest hospital with a 24h emergency department because of the injury...
Will whack down some Naproxen, and I have some oxytetracycline and metronidazol anti-biotics kicking around which I can also neck, just in case, but I feel fine apart from the discomfort in the leg... just don't know enough to guess whether or not I should seek help... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built machine OS W7 x64 CPU Intel Q9300 2.5Ghz Quad LGA775 (Would like Q9650) Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R (F6 Bios) Memory 4Gb OCZ Gold 1,333Mhz Graphics Card Palit HD4850 O/C Sonic 512Mb DDR3, Dual DViD's Sound Card Azalia to twin Samson 50w Studio Monitors Monitor(s) Displays Twin Dell (E-IPS) U2311H 23.6" Screens Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz Keyboard Cherry PS/2 custom model Mouse Logitech M500 Laser Mouse PSU OCZ 600w Case Lian-Li PC8 acoustifoamed' aluminium tower Cooling Scythe 140mm Zipang Hard Drives Twin 1Tb Barracuda archivage, Twin TV/PVR 2Tb Samsungs, (80Gb Barracuda for the OS, but SSD envisaged...) I would recommend to play it safe and have it looked at as soon as possible. You wouldn't want any blood clots to start forming, or infection to set in.
Do you have a friend that you can call to help get you off to the hospital to have it looked at, or a emergency number from the doctor to see what they think?

I get some pretty gnarly mtb injuries, and bruises also just cause I'm clumsy and IMPATIENT so I'm always running into edges and corners of doors and walls trying to take the shortest rte possible--and pushing myself through the masses at stores...
...but, dude, that would probably freak me out even,
like everyone said---have it checked out. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom build; parts from the Egg OS windows 7 Professional 64 Bit CPU I7-3930 Motherboard Asus P9X79 PRO Memory G.Skill 4X 4 GB DR3 240 pin 16GB total Graphics Card EVGA 670 Sound Card Energy Take 5, Sennheiser HD 205 phones, X-FI Monitor(s) Displays Hanns G 21.5" HH221 and Samsung 19" 940BW and Hannspree Screen Resolution 2X 1920X1080 and 1X 1440X900 Keyboard Logitech Wireless and backlit Mouse Logitech Rollerball PSU 1000 Watt XFX Pro Series Case Thermaltake Chaser Cooling Corsair H80 Hard Drives 3-- internal 250 GB WD; 1-- internal 1 TB Samsung ---plus 3 WD external HDs (sizes vary to 1.5 TB); Crucial M4 128GB SSD, 1 Pioneer BDR-207 Bluray writer;

tell the hospital you suspect infection and they will look at your leg maybe prescribing some antibiotics!

Do not hesitate to get to a hospital, if it a blood clot and it moves up to your lungs or heart you are in a deadly condition. That said all the operations I have ever had have also resulted in sever bruising Especially the ones I had on my eyelids last year looked like I had gone a few rounds with a boxer
Better safe then sorry man

Been to the accident & emergency department and waited half the night, eventually saw a doctor who barely looked old enough to have left school, and they took some blood and asked a handful of stupid questions, and one and a half hours later they pronounced it to merely be extensive bruising - and sent me home...
They reckoned NHS Direct should have been able to tell me the same over the phone, which was kinda hard to believe when they were the very people who were telling me it was anything from septacemia to MRSA, to meningitis... but defo' not bruising LOL!
When it turns yellow and green I'll post another photo... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built machine OS W7 x64 CPU Intel Q9300 2.5Ghz Quad LGA775 (Would like Q9650) Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R (F6 Bios) Memory 4Gb OCZ Gold 1,333Mhz Graphics Card Palit HD4850 O/C Sonic 512Mb DDR3, Dual DViD's Sound Card Azalia to twin Samson 50w Studio Monitors Monitor(s) Displays Twin Dell (E-IPS) U2311H 23.6" Screens Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz Keyboard Cherry PS/2 custom model Mouse Logitech M500 Laser Mouse PSU OCZ 600w Case Lian-Li PC8 acoustifoamed' aluminium tower Cooling Scythe 140mm Zipang Hard Drives Twin 1Tb Barracuda archivage, Twin TV/PVR 2Tb Samsungs, (80Gb Barracuda for the OS, but SSD envisaged...) Sounds about right
Diagnosis by phone? What a stupid bloody idea.
Just make sure you keep an eye on the surgery site itself for any signs of infection (red and inflamed, discharge etc)
The bruising itself looks normal in that shot though. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS 7 Ultimate x64 CPU i5 2500K 4.7 Ghz Motherboard ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe Gen 3 Memory 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X 2133mhz Graphics Card Asus GTX 580 DirectCU II Sound Card X-FI Forte 7.1 + ATH-AD900 Headphones Monitor(s) Displays x2 Dell U2410 / 58" Samsung / "40 Sony Screen Resolution 1920*1200 / 1920*1080 Keyboard Topre Realforce // Ducky Shine MX Black // Filco Ninja TKL Mouse Razer Imperator + Razer Lachesis PSU Corsair AX1200W Case Lian Li PC-V1020A Cooling Noctua NH-D14: 3x140mm Gelid Wing 14 : Noctua NF-P12 120mm Hard Drives 2x Intel 520 240GB * Crucial M4 128GB * 2x Samsung F3 1TB (RAID 0) * 2x WD Caviar Blacks 2TB (RAID 0) Other Info Laptop Specs:
