    Another great american classic...

Gone with the Wind (1939) staring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh. I bought the 70th Anniversary Edition for Christmas and though I've seen it a few times it brought back childhood memories when I watched it the other night. Absolutely brilliant.

For those whole like to collect old movies movies and like movie history I absolutely recommend this one and the Wizard of OZ 70th Anniversary Edition.

Amazon.com: Gone with the Wind (70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition): Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard, Olivia de Havilland, Thomas Mitchell, Barbara O'Neil, Victor Jory, Laura Hope Crews, Hattie McDaniel, Ona Munson, Harry Davenpor

Amazon.com: The Wizard of Oz (70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition with Digital Copy and Amazon Exclusive Set of 4 Collectible 8x10 Character Posters): Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Frank Morgan, Billie Burke, Margaret Ham

    Brilliant

For me, it all depends on the genre...

Comedy: Clerks. It's irreverent look at working at a job you hate is just classic, plus it's the first appearance of Jay and Silent Bob.
When it comes to comedy, there's only two that stick in my mind, even now...

Blazing Saddles (1974) – Mel Brooks

Animal House (1978) – John Belushi

However, I suppose it depends on the generation :)

I will give a shout out to American Pie though, the first one. That was some funny stuff.

Three completely different movies, three different ways to tell a story. I can not decide which one so I just say these are my favorite movies:

    Field of Dreams (1989)
    Barfly (1987)
    The Blues Brothers (1980)

I'm showing my age but I think the best movie I have seen is the 1964 "Fail Safe" with Henry Fonda and Walter Matthau. I saw it at a friends house when I was 12 and walking home I heard a jet in the sky (it was night) and it was a spooky feeling. I'll always remember that walk home.
That was one scary movie. It probably would not be the same now, but with Russia and the US in the Cold War, it was fantastic. As a kid I was to go Boy Scout camping the weekend it was on TV. I stayed home to watch it, my parents just could not understand..........
