    *spin off* Your favourite book

    That is assuming you read

I don't have just one - I read A LOT so I have a bunch of favourites but a few that come to mind

    The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult (yes yes, total sob book and most of her other books suck but I really liked this one)

The life of Pi by Yann Martel

I also really enjoyed the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl who played with fire (about to read the last one) but I wouldn't rate as my favourite but definitely among the more enjoyable I have read lately.

Though not an avid reader, i used to read anything from "yippee Yarns" to Lord of the Rings.

The last 3 years or so, it has been Clive Cussler books.
Getting quite hooked on the adventure style writing.

I do a lot of reading on a few forums that hold my interest, but since they are not in book form, i guess they don't count.

One of my favourites aswell. :)

It's hard to tell about favourites, quite a lot

Most enjoyable ones I read recently:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Interpretation of Murder by Jen Rubenfeld
Quite a lot of Hercule Poirot books from Aghata Christie
Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling

My favorite series lately has been Vince Flynn's novels that follow a character named Mitch Rapp, who is a CIA "black ops" character extraordinaire....that does whatever it takes to protect his country.

He does things that I would not necessarily agree with in real life, but it makes for an absolutely riveting read.:)

NinaJay have you read Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult, I have that one to read. I have every book that Catherine Cookson wrote, plus a few Josephine Cox and Meg Hutchinson, Rosamunde Pilcher, Susan Howatch, plus others I can't remember some of which I've still to read.

Can't really say I have a favourite but over my lifetime I've read a variety of authors and still finding ones I like

Joan, I have read all of Jodie Picoult's books (apart from the latest two). I think her earlier ones were good but there came a point where she was just pumping out books and they all became a bit same same.

Patio - nice list. I have read most of those :)

Pacinitaly - I'll put that one on my list

Fante was a writer from the 30's. Italian/American stories.
