I was a big fan of the Leisure Larry games but the last one I played was more arcade game than role playing so I bored of it quickly and never completed it. This game looks to be more of the same so I'll pass.

I stumbled across Leisure Suit Larry when I was around 12 years old, thinking back at it, maybe I shouldn't have been playing a game where the goal is to get laid?

Yes, as told here. It is the latest game in the series, published only last year after over 4 years since last one (Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude in 2004)
