What's your opinion on this truck?

So I'm looking at replacing my '91 B-series, but all of Mazda's current trucks are crap.
I haven't found any alternatives to are half decent and meerts my needs, except for the Mazda BT-50, which is not sold in North America. However, it IS sold in Latin America, and I found in in Chile. Using a currency converter I estimate that the SDXTT (4x4 Mechanical TT MT and ABS) is about $27,000 to $32,000 CAD, not including taxes and importing.
Assuming that this truck can be imported, what's your take on it?

$300 for RIV and AC tax, about $1,350 GST, No PST in Alberta, and $1,500 Duty according to this.

Mostly I want to get as much online reaserch possible before calling the RIV to confirm that this truck is on the green list.

Don't know about Alberta, but importing a car into the US and especially into places like California can get insanely expensive. Shipping, Import duty, Smog equipment added on and any other DOT required equipment (like airbags) that may be missing...

i know i had an uncle that worked in hawaii for about 2 years and naturally bought a car right after he got there, a honda, when he came back he was checking on having that car transported back because he enjoyed the good mileage it got but whatever they told him it would cost to get it over here was high enough he sold the car and bought a new one shortly after getting back.

I'm planning on flying down there to purchase then make the trip back a road trip.
It gets about 9L/100km, which is fine for this.

Aren't all the Mazda trucks rebadged Ford Rangers, or has that changed?

Another issue you might consider is parts availability for you if it breaks down. Will you have to order them from Latin America and import them as well or can you get them locally? Will a local dealership fix items under the warrenty terms?

on the B-series. the BT-50 that I'm looking at is similar to a GMC Canyon 4-door while the largest B-seies only has a worthless jumpseet in the back.

Yeah i have to look into that. I assume that it won't be a major problem because I can bring it to a local dealership for maintenance, and in the rarer chance that something breaks it should be similar enough to the B-series that a Mazda dealership can repair it.
Also, it uses a Ford Duratorq engine so I could possibly order parts from them.
I just wish this truck was available in Canada, because it blows everything else out of the water.
