Survey: Most Prefer Yahoo!

While this is not a scientific poll, I found this interesting.

In a recent Polldaddy survey - when asked "Which is your preferred E-Mail Service provider ?" most prefer Yahoo! over other web based online e-mail accounts.
Hotmail 14%
Yahoo 53%
Gmail 25%
AOL 1%
Other 8%

Total Votes: 7,930
Overall, I like the simplicity of Gmail. Frequently, I have used the documents feature in Gmail. As for Yahoo!, I really like the 'Notepad' feature. Hotmail/Live.com always seemed bloated and slow.

I have accounts with Hotmail, Live.com, Yahoo!, Gmail, GMX. With some services I have multiple accounts.

What do use and why?

I use Yahoo, mainly out of familiarity. I went about 5 years without computer access, but before that I had a Yahoo account. So when I rejoined civilization about a year and a half ago, I went with what I already knew.

I signed up to hotmail about 14 years ago. It was the 'one to use' back then. I signed up for a yahoo account about 4 years ago. Used it once and I couldn't even tell you what it is now.

I like Gmail & Live because it allows POP3 .. We have to pay Yahoo to configure with Outlook (i think)

One reason for Yahoo being as high as it is, how many ISP's are in a licensing agreement with Yahoo for their mail and other services (AT&T, Rogers Cable, etc)? With most people that use a computer not knowing much more than where the power button is, it's no surprise that they would use Yahoo just because it "comes" with the internet account.

A lot depends on what I'm doing, newsgroup replies are usually Hotmail, newsletters and some other things are gmail, forums are my secondary email account, there are some you can't sign up to with either Hotmail or gmail.

I do have a Yahoo account but don't use it, it's one I had to set up when finding my first cross stitch sites through Yahoo Groups.
And of course when you go with BT they think you are going to be BT/Yahoo.

I began using Hotmail years ago and I ahve never changed. I don't use it frequently, though. I mainly use it to avoid spam to my main account.
