I agree. The CONCEPT is amazing, and I want a tablet like this.

However, Apple appears to get about 2 original ideas, and the (Max)iPad is not one of them.
It just looks like a stretched iPhone.
And they MADE it a giant iPhone.

The HP counter is along similar lines (with a COOL name), though not a fan of it. I would like to see a cool looking touchpad computer, perhaps with an actual grip and thickness to it (as in make it sturdy).

Linux CENTOS 7 / various Windows OS'es and servers

Hi all
I'm still struggling to see who the device is aimed at.

If I'm travelling I need to do more than just browse the web -- Email is fairly important - and I need things like spread sheet and powerpoint attachments so a Blackberry isn't really an alternative for me. So without a keyboard Data entry is going to be almost non existant.

How would you process your pictures for example if you were on a Photoshoot "out in the boonies".

In any case who wants to just BROWSE the web -- how would you be able to POST to this excellent Forum (and others) without decent data entry methods.

It would mean in fact you would STILL need a laptop as well.

No thanks -- these days with security in airports etc etc -- I need to MINIMIZE the amount of gear I carry -- a Netbook has been a real saving grace here.

So what market is this really aimed at. You can't even sell this as a "Cool School Tool" either it would appear.

Any business person on the road needs a PROPER email, a decent Office suite, and a method of logging in to corporate VPN's and running applications. This device as far as I can see has just about ZERO functionality in that area.

As a big brother to an Iphone - well that's about it it -- but I don't even like the Iphone.

it's got an apple logo on it, the target market will swoop them up in a heartbeat.

Also notice that the add-on keyboard doesn't connect via a USB port..but rather a proprietary port tying you into having to use Apple.

I'm not sure this product has a big market either. The thing that makes smart phones and the iPhone great is the sheer amount that it can do in such a small size. You can easily carry it around in your pocket. However, this device is so big, that you aren't going to bust it out at a restaurant when you are waiting for your food to arrive.

Seems like they want into the tablet market...but they don't have a full fledged computer and an OS that will support that. But maybe people are willing to just deal with what is available from the iTunes store.

As a former tablet owner, I can say that tablets are not all theylre cracked up to be. I get much nore functionality from a PC with a good Wacom tablet than I ever did out of my tablet. A netbook is just fine for me and pirtable use, especially if it syncs to my computer well.

Does anyone know if the iPad has a backlit screen? Hard on the eyes when reading a book. I would go for it if it was like the Kindle and uses an e-paper like screen when the iBook app is on!

I have a Kindle, didn't think I would like it, but as I age, reading in large print is a plus! Plus I always have books with me when I have to wait. It fits in my purse no problem.

the screen does have back lighting and it's not an e-ink type screen. i would assume you could turn down the screens brightness but where the kindle only has to accomplish one task the iPad has to be able to do a lot of things to make it an attractive buy for the consumer.

I hate Sony
Ok. So I have a Sony Viao laptop. I decided I wanted to upgrade the HD, so I bought a new one, and installed Windows 7 on it. Went to the Sony website and downloaded all the drivers, and suddenly was unable to do any Windows Updates. I spoke with Microsoft, and everything they told me to do didn't...

7, I Hate!
Hey guys, I just came from XP to 7 Ultimate 64Bit to be able to utilize my 6GB of RAM. As of now, 7 is making me made nuts as there are a few things that drive to the point where I feel like I'm using a Mac because it simply just does not make any sense! First thing I realized, I can't view...
