Ipad - I HATE it already

    Hi all
as one who hates cluttered desktops etc I was never into the Iphone with all those horrible little icons (Apps ?) all over the screen - so predictably the Ipad has just EXCEEDED my worst nightmare as a MUST NOT HAVE device.

I don't really like touch screens - keyboards and mice are fine by me especially when I use languages other than English -- Icelandic for example.

To me -- no thanks -- I can't see ANY use for this "oversized" Iphone.

I have no problem using a conventional "netbook" when travelling - and as for e-books on the Ipad -- I still like old fashioned books --how do you read an e-book in bed for example.

    Cheers

I'm with you on the touch screens. I just don't find that they make me any more productive..in fact I feel it's just the opposite.

Had this device really been different from an iPhone, I might have been a little more excited...but like you said, it's just a giant iPhone. I just don't see much practicality with a device like this. It's cute at first, then just a pain to lug around with you. I don't want something that big.

A friend of mine and I discussed figuring out a way of making it a belt buckle and then could have a slide show display various images like Ford Logos, or giant bass fish or something. I'm downloading the SDK right now...the app will be called iBuckle...keep an eye out for it.

I stick with physical books as well. This way I can read them when the plane is taking off or landing. And I can let others borrow it, I can sell it back used, or I can lose it and only be out a few bucks.

i like the concept. however i'd much rather see a windows tablet with these features and a price that could compete with this... which the hp tablet doesn't yet do, but maybe market pressure will make them drop the price.

    Like it --

BTW perhaps this Ipad was released just in time for the Winter Olympics so people could lie on it down the bobsleigh runs.

About the only use I could think of for one is as something to hold targets when I take my 10MM to the range for a little target practice.. and it's probably not very good for that either

I'm always lugging a book around with me. I read a ton of fiction stuff, as well as tech books. I really wish that I had more time in each day for reading.

i can find plenty of useful stuff for this, i think it's cool and can't wait to see how the pc makers respond to it. this made HP's upcoming tablet seem really dull.
