Plea to Web designers Don't make EVERYTHING Multimedia

    Hi all
There seems to be an increasing trend to make more and more stuff on the web "Multi-Media" with Vision and Sound.

Even a lot of interesting stuff from the BBC has to be played .

Now this might be fine if you are at home or just casually browsing -- but in a Workplace or in a Library you don't want loads of other people's sounds - You just want to be able to READ the content -- also keeps the Bandwidth down on heavily used LAN's as well.

    So to web designers --

Please at least give a choice in saying - Play Video content or use Text version.

I'm not against the use of multimedia on the web far from it but please - just remember there ARE places where it isn't appropriate or is not allowed to be used.

    Cheers

I agree jimbo... just because you can doesn't mean you should. I was recently looking at a very famous Australian clothing designers website and it is rubbish! Does NOTHING to inspire the purchasing of clothes and feels more like a surreal fairy tale, maze ride.

Less is More and all that jazz...

I know it isn't much interest to the boys here but take a look to see what I mean (if you have a spare 5 minutes to wait for the front page to load )

I'm browsing the web from my phone a lot. Multi-media is my bane. It sucks up my data limit without return. Plus I don't have flash!

Excellent point, jimbo. It even comes into play at home, late at night, I don't always feel like walking over and grabbing the headphones.

I've just clicked on that link NinaJay and I totally agree I only got as far as bringing up the garden map and that was enough for me.
Didn't get as far as seeing just what it is the person has with regards clothes so I wouldn't think they'd get much trade from that site the way it is
