Telephone Siren

When I attempt to place a call to a particular number, I get an unusual sound, something like a police siren with a high and low tone, only more rapid. What does this mean?

The number you are calling may be busy.

Maybe, but it isn't like any busy signals that I have heard before.

I just noticed that you post count exceeds 2000, yet you don't have a gold member badge...why not?

He has the badge if he wants it, but it is not shown because there is a max of 3 badges at one time.

Maybe they are just fancy. Try again in a few hours. Not asking what the number is, but is it a 1-800 number or a normal number?

It would've replaced one of my current badges, so I requested to not have it.

Ah sooo.

I asked about the number type only because sometimes a 1-800 number will give a busy signal when their phone service is out (no clue why).

I like my current badges, only badges I would trade one of them in for (current badges anyways) is SF Team, Mod, Super Mod, Admin (LOL), and Developer. Not likely to get any one of those though.

This sounds like what I get at work when I try to call an outside line without dialing 9 first.

Telephone LED Displays
I doubt that there is anything that I can do, short of returning the phones to GE for repair, but since I'm not likely to do that, I shall ask here. A couple weeks ago, I allowed my apartment to get particularly cold one night, and when I awoke, I found that both of the LED displays of the...

WIFI Telephone Activity
An off the wall question (literally, since the telephone is wall mounted). I have a wireless telephone that has worked normally for over a year, but 3 or 4 days ago, I noticed the screen lighting up on both of the receivers simutaneously, when no incoming call was occuring. I thought this...

Audio Is Rolling -Kind Of Like A Siren...?
Reaching my frustration limit. I have owned every version of windows and this is a new one. Not sure how to describe it - the sound fades in and out, kind of the way a siren does. I was using the realtek on board chip(capable of 5.1) with my 2.1 speaker system (used with XP). Tried adjusting all...
