i bought 7 home premium as soon as the presale started. as for vista i just like a lot of users bought the ultimate version. do not imply again that i am illegal. i just personally think it is extremely poor judgement to have your security software by the same company that makes you os. as i said after xp was released microsoft took it upon themselves to gather far more than system info from xp users. after seeing how intrusive wmp is why would i ever chance a security product from ms. i'll be fair form the reviews mse probably is a good product, however a good product that most likely allow ms to spy once again just like they did under xp. i strongly recommend that you get you security software from a non microsoft company.
Like Nova commented...It was just a check
Also...you would rather have a third party handle the OS's security?
Lets have an analogy...shall we?
Lets say you bought yourself a Toyota Corolla. Lets say that one of the front wheel bearings went out. Who would you take it to-to get it fixed? Moe & Joes car repair down the road or the experts at the Toyota dealership that made the car. I hope that this is a no-brainier...
Lets take this to computers. Third party anti-virus makers make good products...I won't argue that. You have to realize though that only MS knows the OS...line by line. Everyone else settles for what MS provides in dev kits, etc. There may be issues with the OS that only MS knows about and only issues they can fix. This could carry over to potential security problems that may be only possible to resolve for themselves.
Conclusion? MS makes the OS and knows it like the back of their hand...who better to fix the problems that they have

on offense but i believe anyone trusting all of their software needs to one company is asking for trouble.you are asking for them to eventually deliver inferior products because they have no competition, you are asking them to spy on you.

lets see i have a shop just down the street that i know is as good or better than the dealership / authorized repair center at under half the price. i am going their. ms wants to be the only software company in the world, and i for one am not going to help them get there.
I am? Last I checked my computer is still MY computer. I choose to do all this. :) I trust Microsoft, many trust them. They are a company, and like all companies they have their secrets.
If I didn't want to be 'spied on' as you say. I'd fully switch to Linux. As for the no competition and inferior products, thats not true. One person wont halt a good product from being developed.
Ive had no issues at all with NIS. But, I was curious if MSE was equal to or better than than NIS 2010.
According to Av Comparitives MS got the Gold Award for:
On Demand Detection & Low False positive rate (NIS got bronze for false positive)
But NIS was better at catching & detecting threats real time and Removing them before they ever infect the system.
Results of the tests here for those interested.
