What should I get? Hey Guys and Gals,
My birthday is coming up on the 15th. I have been trying to decide what I want and think the good people at SevenForums should have an input.
What I'm Thinking of Getting:
A Smartphone:
I currently have 1 year left on my contract with Verizon till I can get a discount on a phone when my contract is over. I am wanting to hop on the Smartphone bandwagon but need to find a smartphone on Verizon that isn't uber expensive. I have already ruled out any and every android phone because of the serious fragmentation of that mobile operating system. With the Windows 7 Mobile operating system coming out, I don't want to need a Windows 6 phone. I have been thinking of the Palm Pre+ or a Blackberry with a decent keyboard (Something the Pre lacks).
A Good Media Player:
I currently have a dumb, clunky Walkman S-series mp3 player. I hate it. I have also been thinking of getting a replacement for this terrible device. Right now, I'm looking at Archos tablets, which are nice. A Zune is also something I've been pondering on getting.
So, Fellow SevenForum Posters, What do you think I should get (Try to keep it on the cheap side). | My System Specs |
| System Manufacturer/Model Number HP G50 Laptop OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU 2.0ghz Intel Pentium Duel-Core (Merom) Motherboard Winston 360Bf Memory 2x 4.0GB Centon Duel-Channel DDR2 @ 333MHz Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays 16" lcd monitor Screen Resolution 1280x800 Hard Drives 160GB Toshiba MK1652GSX Internet Speed Satalite Internet. Where I live it's uber slow. |

I say you would be better of with a Zune, because you already have a phone... and you can wait for the discount when it comes, but you said you got a ugly mp3 player thats chunky lol, so If I were you I would get a Zune. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway NV5378u OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit CPU AMD Athlon II X2 M300 Motherboard Gateway SJV50TR 0100 Memory 4GB Graphics Card AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Sound Card Conexant High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor Screen Resolution 15.6" 16:9 HD LED LCD Hard Drives Hitachi HTS545050B9A300 Disk Device 500GB |

That's what I was thinking since I bought a Walkman S-series. I utterly hates my Walkman's interface. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP G50 Laptop OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU 2.0ghz Intel Pentium Duel-Core (Merom) Motherboard Winston 360Bf Memory 2x 4.0GB Centon Duel-Channel DDR2 @ 333MHz Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays 16" lcd monitor Screen Resolution 1280x800 Hard Drives 160GB Toshiba MK1652GSX Internet Speed Satalite Internet. If you decide to go with the Phone.
If you have even 1 day over a year on your new for 2 plan Verizon will give you a discount. You need to go to a company store to get it and you may have to wait on the rebate. Only 2 weeks for the last one.
I know I've been pretty happy with my Verizon Blackberry. Although the Blackberry works best in urban areas and don't hold the phone from the bottom as you risk covering the internal antenna. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Drywallguy OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X4 920 Motherboard Asus M4A79 Deluxe Memory 8GB OCZ PC2 6400 Graphics Card Sapphire Radeon 4830 Sound Card On board Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Syncmaster 2253 & LG Flatron W2242T Screen Resolution 1680 X 1050 Keyboard Microsoft DMK Office Pack Mouse Microsoft Trackball Explorer PSU OCZ StealthXStream 700W Case Rosewill Cooling Stock Hard Drives 5 Western Digital and Seagate mix

I have found that a good smart phone is also usually a decent media player.
If you can find a couple of more people to agree with me, I believe a decision will follow quickly.
EDIT: I think my next phone will be the Pre. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gateway GM5472 OS Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) CPU AMD Athlon 56 X2 5000+ Motherboard ECS MCP61P-AM Memory 4.0 GB Graphics Card Sapphire HD 4350 fanless w/512MB Monitor(s) Displays VeiwSonic VX2035WM Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Other Info Stock system except for the addition of 2GB memory, a Swann PCDVR 4 Card and a Hauppage dual HD tuner and a Sapphire HD 4550 video card |

Get a Verizon sales rep on the line, sometimes they can manipulate the contracts & deals if they need to make a sale. I just got two (2) Lg VX9200 EnV3 phones for a total of $50 after rebates on our family plan contract. It pays to ask questions of the sales rep. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Built them myself, Science Experiments !
