I just made my new computer!!!!!

OMFG!!!!!!! Im typing on it right now!!! And looking at its 17' wide screen! AHHHH

Check out this bad-boys specs. The parts cost-ed me around 1,750 US Dollars, but i got many of these things cheap (From my dads business/business contacts.)
Assembly time: Took me about 5 months due to school pissing me off and having to learn the wiring myself
I have 1 thing to say though - Intel charges outta' the a$$ for those i7 processors.

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB 16MB 7200RPM SATA2 (One that's just sitting around at the house, ill buy a 120GB SDD soon :) ])
    Graphics: Dual ATI Radeon HD4870 X2 2GB in Quad-CrossFireX
    RAM: 12GB Triple-channel Corsair Dominator: 6 x 2048MB DDR3 1600MHz
Cooling: Water Cooling(self contained) - AWSOME!!!) + Fans
    Processor: Intel Core i7 2.66GHz x 4 with HyperThreading 4.8GT/s FSB 8MB cache
    Mobo: EVGA X58 ATX LGA1366 DDR3 3PCIE-16 PCI-E1 2PCI SLI SATA2 eSATA Dual GBLAN

(Im using a old(very old) rock-solid case from my dads first computer from the 90's.)
*Notes:* Any help with the cooling guys? I haven't exactly tested out this badboy hard-core yet.
Since i cant exactly afford a case - im thinking of just cutting some large recangular slots in this old case of mine. Old case is from like a 1989-1993 version of some old gateway. Im just worried about dust - but i do have watercooling + additional fans(3 of them)(2 on 1 side, and 1 on the back)
I think this will let me get some hard-core programming done. I also have to let my dad work on this so he can boot up some Oracle 250 GB++ Operating systems lol... But all is well with my new baby :)

Heya DD :) Very nice specs.

As far as cooling, you may be fine as it is. Have you tested your temperatures idle and under load yet? No point in wasting time/energy in further cooling if it's completely unnecessary :)

Well, i was mostly just stressing about even turning it on - hoping i wired it all fine. But im gonna be undervolting it(if necessary) and during my stress tests ill be checking its idles/high loads.

Then I recommend doing that before worrying about further cooling options :) Good luck! Do you know need any links to any temperature monitors?

12 GB of RAM seems like overkill, but it looks great. :)

I don't expect you will have cooling problems? Out of curiosity, why run fans and watercooling together? I thought the whole point of watercooling was to overclock like crazy, and not have the noise from fans.

The 12GB of ram is overkill...but if cheap enough, probably won't hurt. But probably won't increase performance either.

How much was the Core i7..I would have expected it around the $275-$290 mark...which isn't too bad really? Probably spent that much if not more on the video cards.

Congrats though. I know there is a huge sense of pride getting all of your own gear and getting it working.

Hehehe :) Well - i don't like the monitors that make the INTERNET looks so small. I think 17' is just perfect!

Take some pictures and post them in "show us your rig" in the hardware and devices area so that others can marvel at it.....lol.
