    Microsoft Moving Forward?

It just came to me today...

That People would be more inclined to buy PCs over Macs if Microsoft designed their own computers just like Apple, and have unique features, instead of just designing the software to be used on other manufacturers hardware.

    Do you guys agree?

Designing the computer is probably not enough if you still were using stock parts. But if they were develping their own chips, they could put parts of the OS into microcode. That would certainly give them an edge in performance and function. But running a chip factory and chip development is a BIG undertaking.

People don't just buy Macs because they're forced to (As in, they buy from Apple since only they sell OSX-based computers). They buy Macs because they are, or at least seem to be self-sustaining. They don't need to be defragmented. There are only a handful of viruses, so no anti-virus needed, and they come with pretty good software straight out of the box. They are overpriced, but that's just because they pack in a lot of hardware. Accelerometer, light sensor, bluetooth, etc. I know that this isn't true in general, but the people that I know personally that use Macs are the people who think that PCs are too complicated to use.

Microsoft has enough problems with anti-trust and monopoly suits. Why add more to it's problems by making computers?

I think MS should buy AMD and give Apple and Intel some competition. They could probably buy them with petty cash.

But people are already more inclined to buy a PC, that's why apple overpriced junk only has such a tiny market share.

i suppose you could say that an xbox is a microsoft computer 'with unique features'.

i don't know the current sales figures, but i dare say that they've sold a fair few worldwide.
