You in the US Craney? Not sure if you have IKEA over there but what I did is bought 4 sturdy adjustable tubular steel legs from there-about £20. They're in bright red but they do several colours.
I then went to a kitchen fitters and bought some 2" work top made of dense woodchip.
Each leg has 5 screws to the worktop material. Make sure you get the dense, heavy woodchip material otherwise the screws will just pull out if it goes sideways.
So I got a 5 foot by 2 1/2 foot desk. Put some alloy strip down the sides and it looks great and is extremely sturdy.

Total cost less than £40. A decent desk costs a lot more than that and frankly some of the chain store "workstations" are flimsy rubbish which I wouldn't trust to hold my precious tower:)

    Hello Craney.

I got the one I use from a yard sale, it's a large wooden table that only cost $35.00 and it's great.

You can see a couple other pics of it here I wouldn't use anything else now.

you should add a wire management rack to that thing. clean it up a bit. but nothing beats a nice sturdy desk and that thing looks like it hold up just fine.

I prefer an L shaped desktop myself, it has 2-3 drawer ends that it stands on plus the top 2 drawers are smaller ones allowing for a opening with a ledge that on one side has CD/DVD slots for my important apps, programs and driver Cd's. And the other side has all my books and binders standing on the ledge. Only thing is I have my case under the desktop catty cornered. So evn though I could put it on the top I find the blue leds distracting at night. I also built it myself . Works out really good for me and my condition having everything within an arms reach. And a place to elevate my legs.Fabe

    Hi Craney:)

Been trying to post a picture of my desk but for some reason it won't upload. The upload box and "my pictures" keep disappearing behind the browser page. If I minimise the page and upload it fails. Weird.
Anyway I posted the pics before. They're on page 83 of the "show us your rig" thread. So if you'ld care to look there. That was before I put a strip down the side edge.

That's quite a table Ted, you could dance on that
