Ceiling Mount
The question doesn't really seem to fit elsewhere, so I chose to ask here. I just got a VideoSecu ceiling mount for my HDTV, and it has two sets of mounting holes in the portion affixing to the ceiling. One set is just 3 holes down the middle, which I assume were intended if mounting to a stud, but there are 6 others outboard of these at ~ 8.25" x 1.75", which appear to be for attaching via hollow wall anchors that are provided. My question is simple...is this really an adequate area to provide a secure and solid mount for a TV and mount weighing ~25lbs, and hanging on an arm extended ~34"? I'm not as concerned about the weight, as I am the leverage placed on the ceiling with typical pressures imparted to the TV below. I know that it is possible to add a stud in the ceiling to mount to, but with my health condition, I would like to avoid that task if practical.
