The thought of purchasing a bike online is ludacris. Why would anyone buy a bike they haven't even sat on? Straaaange!
I have to confess to having done that. My wife got her motorcycle endorsement in 2005 and wanted a bike of her own. She really liked my 03 Bonneville T100 and wanted a Bonnie. Mine is blue and her favorite color is blue. On a Bonneville motorcycle forum to which I belong, one of the regular and active members was having to sell his 03 T100 for financial reasons (read divorce). I knew by reading his posts what kind of riding he did and knew he was an experienced motorcycle guy. He lives in CA and I live in FL.
I called him and we agreed on a price and he shipped it to me via Forward Air. When I picked up and got it out of the container at the airport, it was pristine. I put the windscreen back on, poured in a gallon of gas and rode it away from the airport. Prior to that, I had only seen photos. 26,000 miles later, it is going strong and now has a sidecar.
I must confess that I would not have done that with just anyone. Several of the other CA members of the forum vouched for him.
