Opera Mini for iPhone Approved!

And available for download in the AppStore immediately. I've just started using it and I've got to say it tops Safari by far. Everything from switching tabs to navigating menus is buttery smooth. Now if only there was a way to set it as the default web browser...

Opera today announced its popular mobile browser, Opera Mini has been approved for iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store. Opera Mini will be available as a free download within 24 hours, depending on market.

Opera Mini, with more than 50 million users worldwide, enables fast mobile Web browsing by compressing data by up to 90 percent before sending content to the device, resulting in significantly improved page loading. Users of the app will notice an uptake in speed, especially on slower networks such as the 2G Edge network. Surfing the Web with the Opera Mini App on iPhone and iPod touch will also help users save money because of its data compression capabilities. This will hold especially true while the user is incurring roaming charges.

Works amazing on my iphone! Super fast and def the best browser bar none! Hard to beleive Apple let this thru as it will put Safari(on iphone)out of business :)

I agree. My only gripe is lack of pinch to zoom (double-tap), but I think that's more of a technical limitation. I think a large part of the reason Apple let it through is because of the overwhelming number of articles about it. Also, there have been other alternative web browsers featured in App Store, so why not this one?
