Flash 10.1 delayed for Android, webOS and BlackBerry
While promoting Creative Suite 5, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen has talked a bit about what's coming in the Apple-contested Flash world. Currently Flash Player 10.1 is available in RC (Release Candidate) form for Windows, Mac OS and Linux, meaning it will go 'final' very soon, but other platforms will have to wait longer than planned to get it.
According to Narayen, a 'business' decision was made to delay the release of Flash 10.1 for Android, webOS and BlackBerry platforms from the initial 1H 2010 to sometime in the second half of the year.
Flash 10.1 features GPU-accelerated video and graphics, support for multi-touch, gestures, mobile input models, accelerometers and screen orientation, hardware decoding of H.264 video, optimized SWF management (for mobile), as well as content protection powered by Adobe Flash Access 2.0.
