How did you get your first PC?

    Hello guys,

So how did you get your first computer? I got mine back in 2000 and it ran Windows 98 then ME. The specs were: 500MHz P3, 7GB HD, 32RAM (upgraded to 98RAM), 3MB on-board graphics and on-board sound. I played some of my first racing games on it, like: Midtown Madness 1 & 2, Monster Truck Madness 2, Driver etc.

I got mine in 1993-1994, it was a 386DX 40MHz Turbo - 26MHz normal, 4MB memory, 170MB harddisk, 5.25" FDD and 3.5" FDD. It got Sound Blaster pro, and a 256kB VGA? I forgot... I played DOOM and DOOM II on it... It got Windows 3.1, listened to some classical music with "The Pianist", connected to my ROLAND keyboard over MIDI, sounds like a CD back then :). Good memories...

For my first real PC, I just went to the local PC shop asked what parts I needed, then took them home and built it. 2 hours later I had a kick ass cyrix 166 system with something like 8meg of ram lol.

    8 Megs of ram huh?

Try an AST IBM from 1987 that had a Turbo button on the front of the case that went from 8 mhz to 16 mhz *lol* now that is over clocking!

I got it from my dad.. I was 6 years ago. It had DOS on it... I learned dos. Umm I went straight from DOS to Windows 95. Never messed too much with 2.0 or 3.1.

Our first family computer was an Apple, I don't remember what kind. And it sucked. That's probably what turned me off of Apple.

The first PC was...an old '98 box, I think. No, '95. And we used it for nearly nothing.
