I really dread to think. I currently have two pcs, the recent one cost twice as much as the previous one and I bet I really couldn't tell much difference in ordinary use.
In 5 years I've had 5 keyboards and several mice, a couple of heat sink fans etc
It's an obsession. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number The Monolith. 3.1 OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit CPU i7 2700K@4.5GHz Motherboard Gigabyte Z77-D3H Memory 2x4GB Corsair Vegeance DDR3 Graphics Card XFX GTX 260 Black Edition Sound Card none-through large stereo hi fi Monitor(s) Displays Croosover 27MDP LED IPS Dell 2408 WFP Screen Resolution 2560x1440 1920x1200 Keyboard Enermax Aurora Mouse Logitech Ballmouse PSU Corsair AX 850 Watt Case Cooler Master ACTS 840 Cooling Be Quiet! My current build wasn't too bad at all.
$1192 for my box, cpu, mobo, case, power supply, mechanical hard drive, OS, DVD Buner
$289 for the Intel X25-M Gen 2 SSD drive that I added to it
$165 for the Acer monitor that I am currently using
$50 for my mechanical keyboard
$35 for my Logitech G9 laser mouse
So, $1,731 give or take.
I am looking to replace my monitor with a 24" Dell U2410 ($539) and am looking at the Sapphire Radeon 5850 video card (~$290). But both of those are going to have to wait a while. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

Which HP monitor in particular?? I'm really looking for an IPS based flat panel (not another TN panel) and I'd like to get one which rotates, swivels, etc. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built in July 2009 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Q9550 2.83Ghz OC'd to 3.40Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev. 1.1, F12 BIOS Memory 8GB G.Skill PI DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 timings Graphics Card EVGA 1280MB Nvidia GeForce GTX570 Sound Card Realtek ALC899A 8 channel onboard audio Monitor(s) Displays 23" Acer x233H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard ABS M1 Mechanical Mouse Logitech G9 Laser Mouse PSU Corsair 620HX modular Case Antec P182 Cooling stock Hard Drives Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2 SSD

I'm really looking for an IPS based flat panel (not another TN panel) and I'd like to get one which rotates, swivels, etc. I was actually thinking of this one (which is 25" now). Check the reviews. Both are good, to a large degree the same, so nab whichever is cheaper.
(Make sure the Dell is at least a A01 revision. Also, Dell's quality is hit and miss. When it's a good one, it's very good - when it's dodgy - they can be shockers) | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number SmartEyeball Custom Systems OS 8 Pro x64 CPU i7 3770K 4.6GHz Motherboard ASUS P8Z77 WS (great board good slot placement) Memory 16GB G.Skill Trident X 2400mhz Graphics Card 2x Gigabyte GTX 670 OC WindForce SLI Sound Card X-FI Forte 7.1 + ATH-AD900 Headphones Monitor(s) Displays x3 Dell U2410 / 58" Samsung / "40 Sony Screen Resolution 1920*1200 / 1920*1080 Keyboard Topre Realforce // Ducky Shine MX Black // Filco Ninja TKL Mouse Razer Imperator + Thermaltake Theron PSU Corsair AX1200W Case Thermaltake Level 10 GT Snow Edition Cooling Noctua NH-D14 Hard Drives 2x Intel 520 240GB (RAID 0) * 2x WD Caviar Blacks 2TB (RAID 0) * 2TB WD Caviar Black Antivirus MSE Browser Opera, Chrome, FF Other Info GT Extreme V2 Sim Racing Cockpit + 40" LCD and K/B Mouse stand ▼
