Today at work (I work at a community college) the network was down, and we couldn't get online. It's funny how this has an effect on people. Suddenly what you depend on isn't there, and there's this feeling of unease because you're so used to it. In our department, things can be slow sometimes, so the Internet is something we use to occupy our minds during down time, but of course, without any internal or external network connectivity at all, the college couldn't function and people couldn't do their jobs, so it's not just the Internet part that's important. So at home or at work, when we're bored, we still want it, but why do we panic when it's taken away?
