Something to think about...
Listening to the radio this morning and the host was speaking about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
He stated that it has been 20+ years since the spill in Alaska by the Exxon Valdez. Also, in that span of 20+ years, the major oil companies have raked in ungodly amounts of money in the form of profits. Yet, despite having taken in all of that money over those years, the oil companies are responding to the Gulf of Mexico spill in the same way that they responded to the Exxon Valdez spill. In other words, despite huge profits, none of that money was spent on R&D to develop new technology to fight (and perhaps prevent) oil spills.
For a company that can claim ELEVEN BILLION DOLLARS in a quarter, doesn't it seem odd that the "same old tech" is being used?
(I know Exxon wasn't the blame, but still... If Exxon got that much in a quarter, then you know other companies are getting big profits as well.)
