Hurricane Season USA

Its that time of year. Hurricane Season starts June 1.
Here are a few sites I monitor during this time:

National Hurricane Center

Dallas, TX Weather / Stormpulse / Hurricanes, severe weather, tracking, mapping

Tropical Weather : Weather Underground

Just looked at the above link and there are already two storms in the Indian Ocean.

Here is good reading on Hurricane Preparedness:

National Hurricane Preparedness Week

Phone Man, I truly, truly hope that the Gulf States--yes, especially Louisiana--are spared from any major storm this season. It is bad enough with tar balls washing ashore...

And nothing seemingly being done about it expediently...

Off topic: Are your Tigers gonna win it all this college football season?

Good luck to all that live in the region and I hope that the storms aren't too severe and everyone stays safe.

Let the games begin.

Low pressure system with 60% chance of becoming Tropical System.

This guy looked like it might die off a few days ago but it looks to be still churning.

Hopefully it won't come here. I'm still shuddering over 2004 when we had four of 'em.

He is now called Alex. It has 45mph winds at present. It may become a Cat 1 Hurricane (75mph) after it enters the Gulf of Mexico before going ashore in Mexico sometime on Wed.

Looks like most of it will miss the US. However it will wash more oil to the coast of the US.

Look out Texas. Alex is predicted to head more to the North. A large high pressure ridge in the Gulf is weakening and changing the steering.
