Today I recovered the Office Volume license from my clients locked out system.

For those who may have a similar issue in future have a look at Produkey, which is a freeware portable tool which runs from a USB drive and recovers the keys, as a standard user, without invoking the UAC.

ProduKey - Recover lost product key (CD-Key) of Windows/MS-Office/SQL Server

As it also recovers the OS key it may be useful for those occasions when the last administrative account is deleted and the key is required for a re-install.

Another program from Nir Sofer at NirSoft - freeware utilities: password recovery, system utilities, desktop utilities
Some of their tools, although useful, seam to somehow pose a major security risk.

    Oli

A lot of tools uses by IT professionals could be used for purposes other than the intended one - that does not make them a risk in themselves. in this case the other alternative was to re-licence the software, which for a charity, in these hard fiscal times, is not a viable option. :)
NirSoft supply a great number of freeware tools ,which has Barman so rightly stated are used daily by a few IT proffesionals and are actually highly regarded in that respect
