    But why?

This is just a little release of my stress on some of our new requests for help.

    1. Why does inexperienced people need to install Win7 64bit on their old sytems without first checking if all their software and hardware are compatible with Win7.
I mean all they have to do is run the FREE software from Microsoft on their old system first and read the answers.

    2. Why do people thing they must install Win7 64bit on their system when all they do is suef the web? Don't they know that their internet connection controls 99% of their surfing speed.

    3. (I know this is a run on sentence) Why do people ask for help and never have all the facts in their original message so we must ask additional questions so we can make a better educated decision and then they get angry or insulted because we ask them

    4. Why don't we ask users to add in their stats how old they are and how long have they been working on software and computer hardware problems.

    5. Why do you allow people like myself to just write waht ever we want and ask so many questions that the reader falls a sleep.

    6. Will Apple and Microsoft ever get along?

    7. If my CPU temp exceeds 100 C will it melt into one big puddle?

Does anyone want to continue this senseless babble?

    my opinion,
    1. They don't now that that software exists, are to lazy, not educated enough...
    2. They think, "hey, some guys said x64 rocks, I have to check it out"
    3. They think, actually I don't now what they think
    4. me, 28 years, PC enthusiast
    5. I'm not sleeping (yet)
    6.
    But why?-i_want_to_believe.jpg
    7. I hope it will not

    1. they are inexperienced. < thats the answer to that one.

    2. 'cause all the cool kids are doing it

    3. usually something breaks because of something else because everything is interconnected and as such the user can describe what they have done to one part of the system, but will not know to check on this other part of the system over here.

    4. adding in stats of age is usually seen by those who are real young or real old as an insult.

    5. I am sure a mod will be around soon enough....

    6. Micrapple is already in talks of negotiations. The EU and US are already deciding who will sue first.

    7. Depends on your number of cores. Are you using a stock cooler? Start a new thread and we will help you resolve it.

you didnt number this last one :) but yes I am sure someone will respond to your rant....

    Hello Ziggy,

Thanks for this excellent post. As an avid reader of the daily RSS feed I
have often wondered about these same points.

Hopefully this post will make people think before they leap off the deep end.

You have the foundation for an useful tutorial here. Perhaps
makeing this post into a lesson or an outline of some of the basic ideas which
should be considered before designing / configuring a system.

All your points are well taken and can be a good lesson for us all.

    Thanks,
    Richard

Regulars on this forum need to remember that the majority of people that come here with questions have little to no knowledge of computers. What would seem to be simple to us wouldn't ever enter their minds. Most people don't know the difference between their desktops and their homepage. We need to keep this in mind when dealing with people's requests for help.
None of this however is an excuse for rudeness, which is my main "bug bear". People expecting or demanding answers and/or not even saying thanks is what gets to me. I guess common courtesy isn't very common nowadays.
