I don't have any pictures of it (I guess I could go take one), but I custom built 2 rockets, 2 and 3 years ago.

First one was 6 feet tall, flew on an I, second was 7 feet and flew on am M.

Used to fire off rockets when I was a kid, the kit kind. They'd inevitably drift somewhere we couldn't go get them, or the chute would fail. They went surprisingly high though. Ahhh, memories. A Guy

are the letters the shape of the trajectory?

    I think they're engine sizes.

I've only ever had A rockets, I always wanted a multi-stage rocket, with a camera, that was taller than me.

As Zen said, they are motor desegnations. An A motor has about a 2Newton Impulse, and each letter up doubles the power range (more or less).

Yes the letters are the engine size. A rough approximation would be to equate them to battery sizes. Comparing an A cell to a D cell would be like comparing an A engine to a D engine. The D engine is bigger, better, faster. I played around with building and launching a few rockets years ago. I think the biggest was about 4 feet tall with a single D engine. lol I can remember thinking, this is just a little breeze and should be no problem, and then running what seemed like forever trying to keep up with the rocket drifting on the parachute.
