Q: Is it worth moving to 7?

    Hey guys,

    Extensa from VistaForums here...

I am debating whether or not to upgrade to Windows 7 RC. I am running Vista Home Premium x64 right now and am not having problems. Would I see better performance with Windows 7? What about gaming, does Steam work well with 7?

    Thanks,

    Extensa

    Hi Extensa welcome over,

Why don't you dual boot Vista and Win 7 and enjoy both. You'll like Win 7 a lot I think. I think it's worth it.

Will it work the same way as upgrading, where all my programs will already be installed?

EDIT: Is Bitdefender '09 compatible with Seven?

Hello Extensa, welcome to Se7en Forums!

A lot of people are doing it, but I wouldn't recommend it; dual booting Vista and 7 is very easy, have a look at the tutorial Airbot linked you.

mmm, I think I've read about some having problems with Bitdefender, You might want to take a look in the security forum, and use the sites search fro Bitdefender.
    Here's an example:

So you recommend dual booting over upgrading?

Has anyone played Team Fortress 2 on 7? Will I have better performance?

Yes, that way if anything goes south, you'll still have your Vista to fall back on.

So when dual-booting, programs must be reinstalled on the 7 partition or can you use programs installed on the Vista partition?

Dual boot is like having two browsers or two pc's if something does not work on the one your on at the time then just restart and choose the other in the boot menu. You will have to reinstall all your programs and games. As far as the games you mentioned not sure about them working in seven.
