Ok I figured I would post this since I have been not around since last Thursday.

Last week, on Thursday, I had some anxiety issues and went home for lunch to try and relax. While there, my wife and I decided I should go to the hospital. On the way to the hospital, a car backed up into our front end. And then he jetted. (Hit and Run!!!) We got his license plate before he took off. My car was making noises so we pulled off the road and we called for an ambulance, and both of us went to the hospital. Me for panic atacks, my wife for back and knee pain. wow right?

So.... my car was able to make it home after the hospital, but insurance company towed it to assess damage. I just got a rental car today and found out that my almost completely paid off car is totalled. We will get some money back but it is an old car so probably not much. It would have been nice having no car payments, but it looks like God wants us to have a new car and new car payments (even though we really dont want a car payment). (Thank you btw)

Silver lining... no serious injuries or life threatening stuff, and a new(ish) car.... otherwise, still suffering from anxiety, Medication is making me sick... don't like mood enhancers (which is what they gave me?)... have no mulla for new car... have to look for a new car and hope its not a lemon... <<< lots of un-needed stress there too...

All and all a crazy weekend. good to be back at work although a little stressful, I am managing.

(to link back to LW7, I might take up pole dancing too if these car payments are too high)
I am sorry to hear about this. The main thing is that neither you nor your wife were seriously injured. The loss of your car is not good news, though.

Robert is right; if you have to get a replacement car, this is the right time to do so. Shop carefully and find you a good, used vehicle. Pay a mechanic to check it out before you buy. Around here, there are mechanics who do this for $100.00. Though $100 is a lot of money (to me), it is a darn site less expensive than having a transmission rebuilt, for example. You might even find a good deal on just taking over payments from someone.

    Good luck in your search.

Thanks everyone for your continued support. I am doing much better today as well. When I get my new car, I will take pics for everyone and post the pics of the damage to my car.

@Bill, Thanks friend, the wife and I are doing much better.

@Joan, Thanks Joan, Dennis said that about the car being fixable not people. and I agree, when it happened, my wife, Amanda, was driving and she was taking me to the hospital. I wasn't worried about the car at all. I wasn't worried about myself. I was worried about my wife. I feared that she was injured. She had back surgery last November and I knew that the collision was not good for her. Even when I got to the hospital myself, my anxiety issue was pretty much over. Replaced by concern for my wife.

@SmartEyeball I have sort of started CBT (never heard that term before). This I feel is crucial in this matter. I don't want to be taking medications. I would like to resolve this issue so long term medication isn't needed. I do feel my situation is not as drastic as some people who suffer from panic attacks. This is my third time dealing with it. I have a friend who is into meditation and have been talking with him about practices to follow to stay relaxed and put my mind in a steady state. I was already practicing this last week when it happened, but it helped tremendously. I also will be talking to a psychiatrist to see if going to a psychologist can be arranged.

Gotta go to hospital A to get Doctor B to go see Doctor C, but if Doc C can help, then its worth it.

@Carl, Thanks, we have a vehicle in mind and I am going to take your advice if possible and have it looked at. This happened at a bad time as we don't have any funds. First paycheck of the month is always the tightest and we spent through our reserve as a side effect of loosing a car and having to still get around and such. But if possible, I will make it work.

Edit update, my wife also suggested this last night as she is pretty smart. She found that CarX can do this for free! So she is going to get the vehicle and have it checked out today!!

    Thanks friends!

That's definitely good news, just don't try doing too much and thinking you can do more than you actually can.
