Blue Screen - Cannot Enter Safe Mode or Any Other Mode

All -- any help you can provide would be appreciated. I do not have any desire to pay Lenovo $100 to walk me through the steps of recovering the system.

I have a lenovo ideapad y560 0646 - windows 7 64 bit.

Each time I start the laptop, I get the following error (after the introductory language that says - we're killing the startup to protect you, really, trust us ):

-- ntfs.sys

Then there's the other boilerplate language that it's not microsoft but you, really --

followed by

*** stop: 0x00000050 (0xFFFFF98001680000, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF8801c36344, 0x0000000000000000)

*** ntfs.sys - Address FFFFF88001c36344 base at FFFFF88001c2B000, DateStamp 4a5bc14f

If you can help by pointing to something describing the steps to restore the system, that would be great. Lenovo seems to think all hardware is fine but that the operating system is corrupted.

In short, I was using an air card connected to a PC Card Adapter - inserted in the laptop. Hit hibernate and quickly, without thinking, removed the PC Card Adapter from the laptop. Later, when hitting power on, the blue screen appeared and has not left.

I have tried to enter via safe mode, and that does not work.

There's extensive data on the hard drive that I need to take all practical steps to preserve before blowing it up.

Thanks,

Welcome to SF! davidsawyer

Have you tried reinstalling the pc card adapter and then starting up to see if you can then safely remove it?

As far as the error message itself, "Stop 0x0000007E" or "Stop 0x00000050" Stop error message in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 MS has a fix available at the page there for this type of error.
