Random rebooting

I left my PC on last night to, uh, download some personal movies uploaded by a friend in, lets says, Canada but I heard it reboot itself 2 or 3 times during the night. It would have just loaded into Windows and sat on the desktop doing it's thing for me, I would hear a click, silence and then 5 seconds later it would start up again.

What the hell is going on?

Overheating? Possibly you have auto updates and it is doing its update cycle?

My cores are sitting at 36 celcius at the moment.
I have Auto Updates set to 'Download and let me choose'

It's a bit weird. Could it be anything to do with idle time?

Possibly, My install locks up if it is allowed to sit idle for more that 2 hours

Even if it locked up, it wouldn't automatically restart a few times in a few minutes. Only thing i could possibly think of that would be good news is that some update is installing, but since you said that is not the case, then i am not sure. I am assuming this is a desktop? Do you have an antivirus? What program were you using to download the "special" videos?

It could be your power mode and your computer tried to go to sleep or whatever you have set and your download kept kicking it back on.

AVG and utorrent

Power Plan is set to the default recommended 'Balanced' which puts the computer into sleep mode after 30 minutes of idle time. As I said it was only 2 or 3 shut downs not as frequent as 1 every half an hour.

meh, I think I will call this an RC1 + my specific (John Henry) hardware issue

Well you could look in the Event Log and look for the date and the times and see what was happening.
