Yes mate you should be able to. Load Command Prompt as admin and type as shown sfc /scannow and let it reboot the computer! Should resolve it.

thanks alot tezlewis :)

the scan is finished and the result is: it found problems but couldn't repair all the problems and it created a CBS.log file.

It didn't reboot the computer so I did that.

I'm having the same problem again.

I did the scan again hopping it might solve the problem but it didn't.

Hmm... Do you get any issues in Safemode? If it fiound issues but cant repair them usually means the file has been altered and permissions changed to prevent this.

Although most people will say they are virus free, it still maybe worth running Malware Bytes from safemode with networking as alot of sneaky pests can creep into the explorer process.

the crash of the explorer.exe happen due to cleaning a trojan named Trojan.win32.Patched.kl that was effecting explorer.exe & WININIT.exe

I can't start the safe mode, I have only two choices: Lauch startup repair OR start windows normally

Sounds like you'll need to reinstall Windows and replace your hard disk.

Replacing the HDD is abit drastic if you know iyts since removing a virus which is what i suspected. Reinstalling would be the better option but also try start up repair first!

You probably still have viral remnants. What AV? have you run it again?

Can you upload the cbs.log file from SFC/ scannow?

If start up repair fails the first time, try again! Theres signs of a rootkit here as cleaned files cannot be repaired using SFC and not unbootable!

the only solution the repair is giving me is the system restore and It's not solving the problem but I'll try it again now

I can't find the cbs.log file I looked in c:\windows\Logs\CBS and the folder is empty

I did a search to find it but it looks like it wasn't created!!

I did the scan again and searched for the file while scanning and after scanning and I couldn't find it

How about debugging explorer.exe using visual studio OR reinstalling explorer.exe?

I forgot to mention that the fault module in the problem details have changed:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
