Ok, well I just built a new system. I'll list the components at the end.
The issue I'm having is the Asus ATI Radeon HD5870 was crashing my system (or so I thought). I was getting the infamous GSOD (Grey Screen of Death) as the term had become synonymous with the 5800 series ATI cards. So I read some online help sections, found out it was a driver issue and went through the recommended steps to fix the issue. Well, promptly after ... instead of a GSOD issue, I now get BSOD issues. I thought it might be the card itself, so I had it RMA 4x's, each new one giving the same problem. So today, I received in the mail a new video card, different manufacturer and model #. I AM GETTING THE SAME ISSUE!! So now I'm completely at a loss on how to remedy this. The new card is a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5970. It has to be something other than what I originally thought to be. Attached you will find the required info as per the sticky post for this section. I'll copy and paste the description for the hardware that I purchased also. I should also note that I have run memory tests already with no issues, and seated / re-seated the RAM in different slots. Every un-install of a driver is followed with a clean up with Driver sweeper as well before re-installation.
