Is Microsoft aware of the corrupted profile problem?

I'm really frustrated. Been battling corrupt user profiles fon win7 Ultimate for months now. We have 1 PC with 3 profiles: me, wife, guest. Her profile became corrupt once before (my post here http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/130736-logged-temporary-profile.html) and I solved it by deleting her user and recreating new user. It's a pain though. And now it's happening again. It'll start slowly at first, 1 of every 5 logins results in "you have been logged in with a temporary profile" but eventually it'll stop working, which tells me it's a slow degredation issue. And even my Admin profile is starting to show the problem too.

And I see hundres of similar complaints. So why isn't MSFT fixing this?

I found today that someone claiming removal of Google updater solved the problem. Any validity to this one? I'm going to try it either way.

Deleting Google will only help if the malware is in the Google files or Google Chrome temp files.

It sounds like a malware problem.

I would suggest downloading free Malwarebytes. Install then update using update tab then running a full scan. Download is at top left of page.

When done it will make a notepad report. Save the report to desktop or location you can find it then upload with your next post so we can see what it finds. This will show you how to upload the file.

Whatever it finds when prompted delete it.

mike, but why would you suspect malware? I already have MSE and there are no similar reports of malware affecting win7 user profiles.

Maybe Google updater updating something it shouldn't and therefore profile becomes corrupt?

You can delete Google if you wish.
It may have done just that but if it did it will possibly be Malware or a trojan anywhere in the registry now.

If you have Mbam installed what will it hurt to make sure? Update run it and post the log.

You have to start somewhere.

This is strange. I have never of a problem like this. You probably took some wrong turn somewhere (99% of system problems come from user error). You can battle it for a few more months or bite the bullet and reinstall - after you saved your files. - Unless you have an image you can restore from the time when it worked OK.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop

* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

you guys are wasting my time, but at least I can prevent the next knucklehead from having to run it. And that's not to say I'm not grateful for trying at least. This isn't malware, it's slow degredation of user profiles, probably specific to how we use our PC. We both login, then logoff, then login again many times without reboot. Once a week we restart. It's a BUG in win7, period. Malware would be either ON or OFF, not slowly introduce itself like this problem does.

I uninstalled google updater and will update this thread in a week on whether that helped. Does sound crazy though.

awww, c'mon now. Don't get your feathers ruffled because a frustrated user like me can't solve a problem.

The thread will help the next guy. At least we won't have to ask him/her if it's malware.

re-reading my quote does show I'm being ungrateful. I would like to officially apologize for being an ass. Everyone is volunteering and there's no reason to criticize ANY suggestions, they are all better than doing nothing. I'm just frustrated, that's all. Thanks again. I'll solve it!

OK, apology accepted - at least by me.

I have run into similar problems and it was malware twice. A trojan just 2-3 days ago.

The poster was chasing registry errors for 6 hours or so before I finally got them to run Malwarebytes.

So the next guy may be malware as the last was.

We now know yours isn't.

Hello everyone, I use Windows7 64bit, 6Gb Ram, 2 Hard drivers etc.., and Nvidea Vid Card, I had the same problem as most of you, tried all methods posted on this and other sites, and the solution turned out, I had infected cookies, which were causing the problem, best solution, remove your c:\ driver, from computer, conect to a computer running Panda 2010 or 2011 antivirus, and scan it. Panda scans cookies and will find any that contain malware, by the way Malwarebytes did not detect these cookies, nor did MSE antivirus,.... only Panda 2011 did. either that or if you don't have a second computer, then boot up in safemode using F8 key, and go into your users settings and remove all cookies. this should solve the problem for those who "like me" tried, the copy past for windows explorer. exe into the windows\system32 folder, and opening commandprompt in administrator mode, and running "sfc /scannow". where these options did not work.

You should let Google know about this and they may provide an update for Google Updater.
