Computer sometimes freezes, makes weird static noises from the speaker

Hi again;

I've posted here before (Bsod :() and it was determined that there was a possible problem with my motherboard. But before I sent it away to be repaired/replaced, I decided just to let a computer store have a quick look at it. Turns out a thrid party who had assembeled my computer had done a very poor job, having done things such as installing the power supply upside down (so its fan was blocked) and a fair number of loose connections. The computer store fixed these problems, and it seemed like my computer was working just fine.

However, a problem still persists. Sometimes, it seems at total random times, my computer will freeze, or lock up. About half the time when it does this, its accompanied by a horrendous noise on my speakers, almost like static, but not quite...its hard to describe. No blue screens. From doing a few google searches, I've seen some possibilty that my RAM speed or voltage might be incorrect. Is there any truth to that?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
Run antivirus scan
Check memory with memtest86
Make sure that you are not over heating.
Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
Try a clean boot
Make sure PSU is working properly
If overclocking, restore to original
Test hard drive at company website.

Check back and I will get you some links that you can use for the above

Almost forgot. Type event viewer, in search (by start button) and look for errors that may show the cause of the problem.
Go into event viewer and look for critical errors relating to the problem

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).
When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

This seems like a lot, but go slow, ask questiions and you will be up and running.

In your case, also, go to device manager and look for yellow markers by the sound card and make sure its driver is up to date
