I have a Dell Inspiron desktop with Windows 7 64 bit. It's fairly new, I bought it in Oct. I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue that has arisen this morning. I'm kind of a novice at computers, so I'll try to explain as best I can what happened. This morning when I turned on the computer, the message "Setting Up Desktop" came on as it was booting up and I noticed it stayed on for a while. Then an error dialog box came up saying something about not being able to find something on the disk. Unfortunately, I didn't write the message down (I know that was stupid not to write it down, I was in a hurry and figured a reboot would solve everything). When I hit okay, my desktop came up, but it was a very basic desktop (for example, the background that normally shows up was not there; it was just a solid gray color and the icons were very basic looking and not in their usual places). I rebooted, and now it won't let me in. The computer seems to start booting fine, but when I enter my password, it gives the message: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. I've tried rebooting a couple of times, but same thing.
Any advice please? I have a feeling this is very bad. I'm not even sure whether it's a software issue or a hard drive issue? Thanks.
Peace, Christopher
