Solved a cpu overload error occurred Win 7

I just started getting this error last Friday but about for the last 3 weeks my computer would just turn off without notice from time to time. I had XP 64 Bit installed for 1 week as a dual boot and XP ran very fast on my system. When I get this error it would come as a blue screen error that said " a cpu overload error has occurred your system will power down to protect your system"
I was just told on Sunday afternoon that my processor is only designed for Windows XP and not Windows 7 so it don't have the power to run Windows 7 like the newer processors do. Also My computer boots up fast but runs alittle slow after and I find alot of programs max out this processor like AVG, Windows media player 12, MPCStar 4.9 just to name afew. Firefox takes sometime 5 to ten seconds just to open and load my home page.
Does anyone know how this processor would work on Windows 7 AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core Processor 6000+ 3GHz will this work better then the one I have now?

I already reset the BIOS when I got my motherboard and I have never overclocked my processor and everything is new in my computer besides the processor heatsink and fan. There is software from the AMD site called AMD Overdrive this software could be used to overclock but it also has a CPU stress test to see if your processor is stable. I can set it for 1 hour, 2 hours or more I just never ran it before. I just thought it was weird that Windows XP ran alot faster then Windows 7 with this processor. Also I had to reinstall Windows after the error Friday and the first 2 times didn't take I got windows installed fine but as soon as I went to do a windows update the CPU maxed out then I got that CPU overload error. The third install so far is working but I am not done the updates yet. Could it be my processor might be on it's last legs and I should replace it?

Did a stress test with AMD Overdrive software and ran it for 2 hours and no shock CPU 0 failed CPU 1 passed. I called Microsoft and asked them were I go from here and I told them the specs of my computer and the tech said everything passed but the CPU he said yes it has the GHz to run Windows 7 but it don't have the min cache per core to keep up with Windows 7 demands. He said to run at the best I need a CPU with 1MB L2 cache per core or higher. My CPU only have 512KB per core.

I just found out the problem when I was installing updates through Windows update it installed a driver for this CPU and I guess it was not the right one so I just removed that driver and rolled back to the driver that was installed by Windows when Windows 7 was installed and disabled that driver update and I am not getting any more blue screen errors or any other errors. Also My computer does seem to work better more stable. Thanks for all your guys help.
