Windows 7 - Frequent BSODs - Win 7 Ultimate x64 (SP1)

Hi,

Just joined this forum and really need help in figuring out and fixing the frequent BSODs I get while playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 (BC2) on my computer.

All the BSODs actually are "black" screens of death and the computer locks up. I have to hard-boot the computer to reboot it.

All of the BSODs I've gotten in the past few days are the following:

I have attached the DMP files as well as the PERFMON /REPORT so please help me diagnose the BSOD(s).

I see you had lots of crashes. Most of them were STOP 0x116 which are video card related. There are no minidumps in your report. Follow the link here to make sure you have minidump writing enabled.

STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

Run a memory test as well
1. Memtest86 - Run for 7-8 passes - RAM - Test with Memtest86+

I enabled the minidump writing and it created two minidump reports for the last 2 crashes.

I have attached them here as 'Minidump.rar'.

Also, all the BSODs I've gotten over the past few days were ONLY 0x7e, not the 0x116. I reseated the videocards and reinstalled the drivers so I think that eliminated the 0x116 codes.

I hope the minidump reports will say what's going on.

Run the memory test that I linked in my last post.

Also run a hard drive scan and system file check

I ran the memory test for 8 passes and there were ZERO errors.

I also ran the SFC /SCANNOW and there were no errors as well. My OS drive is actually 2 SSDs in RAID-0 so I wasn't sure if I could run the CHKDSK on them.

I was able to play the game without any crashes yesterday (played for 2 hours straight).

Today, I got another crash but this time, the bugcheck code was 0x1000007e

I have attached the new dmp files and the performance report.

STOP 0x0000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Usual causes: Insufficient disk space, Device driver, Video card, BIOS, Breakpoint with no debugger attached, Hardware incompatibility, Faulty system service, Memory, 3rd party remote control,

Because the minidump wasn't created for whatever reason I can't really tell you what to do. I would suggest going through the usual causes listed above and making sure everything is squared away. It could be some issue with your RAID SSDs.

Since the minidump files were corrupted, I enabled Driver Verifier last night and when I tried to start my computer today, it wouldn't even boot into Windows! It would just hang at the "Starting Windows" logo screen and I had to hard-boot several times to no avail.

I got several BSODs at boot and they were BC Code 0xC9 and 0xA.

It generated new crash dumps and I have attached them here. I was able to log on to Windows via Safe Mode and so I was not able to generate the PerfMon report (kept saying "Error: System cannot find the path specified". So I've attached just the crash dump.

Please let me know what the dump file(s) say.

Also, I reset the OC of my CPU to default (3.47GHz) but I highly doubt that that's the issue since I've had NO problems with the CPU overclock all these months.

My hunch is that one of the graphics cards is faulty (hence all the 0x116 codes in the beginning) or the PSU is just maxed out and sometimes goes over the limit (Amperage) and causes BSOD (black screen). However, I want to find out what the issue(s) is (are) and go from there.

Both are blaming the video card driver. Do you have another video card you can use? What type of power supply do you have?

Well, I just returned one of the cards and exchanged it for another one (same EVGA GTX-580 3GB) and reinstalled the drivers.

By the way, when I reinstall the drivers, should I re-download them from NVidia or just use the same one from the NVIDIA folder in the C:/ drive? I just used the same one that was in the NVIDIA folder so I wonder if some file or files are corrupted on there (?).

I also reset my CPU OC to default (meaning no OC at all).

I am running a PC Power & Cooling 1200W which is supposed to handle this set up but maybe it's being maxed out.

If I get any BSODs again, I will post the crash dumps here.
