Ok so I've had my computer for almost 2 years now and ever since July I've been having constant BSOD's and other crashes. I finally decided to reformat my computer last week and everything has been working fine for the past week. Then last night while watching a movie on it my computer it crashed. Not a BSOD, but a crash where the image on the monitor just froze. I turned off the computer and just decided to deal with it today.

Now today, I could not get my computer to actually start at all. I would turn it on, and it would do its startup noise, like it was revving up or something, but then just do that over and over until I shut off the computer. No image would appear on the monitor. I opened the case and saw that my graphics card would keep lighting up while doing it. I removed my graphics card and plugged my monitor into my mobo, but my computer still wouldn't start. However, on the 3rd try I was able to get on my computer. Windows did startup repair but couldn't fix whatever problems (if any) that I had.

Basically, I'm wondering what is wrong with my computer (vague I know). When I was having all these BSODs I thought I just had software problems, but have I really had faulty hardware for a while? And is it my graphics card? I cannot help but feel like my whole system is faulty for some reason. I didn't have any problems up until last July but the past month and a half has been brutal for my computer.

Edit: Just got another crash (none blue screen) with my monitor hooked up to my mobo's graphics, making me suspect that the graphics card is not the only issue, if it is one at all.

Specs:
ATI Radeon HD 4870
AMD Phenom X3 Processor
Windows 7
750 W Corsair PSU
ASUS M4A785TD-V Mobo
4GB RAM

Also use a Dell XPS M1710 on Vista 32b
Asus LT on Vista 32
3 older machines still doing fine on Linux/ubuntu but not used much anymore...
The other thing worth doing is hovering any dust off your MB and PCI cards.
