BSOD on clean install of windows 7 and windows update

Hi there,

Just bought an upgrade to RAM, graphics, processor and motherboard this week and have been having problems with it since.

I keep getting BSOD whether is be memory_management, NTFS.sys , or usbhub.sys. on clean installs on a range of new and old hard drives.

I have run memtest and is gave and error first time but haven't been able to replicate the error since.

System spec is currently:

Asus p8p67 LE
i5-2500K
Nvidia 8800GTS 640MB (haven't installed HD6850 yet)
4GB RAM Corsair XMS3 2x2GB CMX4GX3MA1600C9 xmp
Toughpower 650W
WD 640GB HDD/ 2TB EARS/2TB EAXS

Check the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors box

Ran first test, no errors.
second, no errors.

ran memtest and had interesting results
1st Test: two sticks
Failed on test 6 pass 1
2nd test one stick in each channel
no errors
3rd test other stick in each channel
failed on each one
test 7 and test 8

so i'm guessing it's one stick of faulty RAM?

It would seem that way.

But may I ask, did you install a fresh copy of Windows after upgrading all your hardware or are you reusing an existing system?

I installed a fresh copy of windows on a range of hard drives and 32-bit and 64-bit versions ultimate and home premium.

I've sent the RAM back so hope the new sticks will work out better. The stick that does work has operated flawlessly on windows update etc.
