Win7 nor Win7 repair disc will not boot, keep getting 'startup repair'

Not a silly question with me.. :-) I checked the settings and HDD is back in space 1 to boot first... when it restarts, I'm not hitting any keys, I will try 'startup repair' now... I'll let you know...

Okay... finally into 'DiskPart' command... I saw a note that says you should not have more than 1 partition 'active'. Which should be 'active', "Recovery" or "Primary"?

After 11 1/2 hours today, and 3 hours yesterday and still not pulling up my windows or desktop... I did the 'Toshiba Recovery Wizard' which set my comp back to "out of box state", welll.. upon restart I now rcv error that "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. insert windows installation disc & restart... etc" Then says: "Status: 0xc000000e Info: The boot selection failed because a required devise is inaccessible." I do not have an 'installation disc' on the 'repair disc' that I downloaded from web.

Do you (or anyone else) have any insight on this as well?? Thank you again for all your help!

You can do a clean install of Windows 7 if you have access to a DVD burner. I would suggest that you speak with Toshiba about getting recovery discs, first, though. If after you speak with them you want to do a clean install, I can help you.

Yes, you will need a DVD. :) Let us know how the burn and install goes. Also, make sure your ISO is 2.4 GB before burning.

Alright, just check the size when it finishes downloading that it is indeed 2.38 GB. Just helped someone with this today who did not realize the download was interrupted, so the installation would not finish because part of the ISO/DVD data was missing.

Well... after 10-11 hours of the program downloading... it did download 2.38gb. I put in my computer (w/CD/DVD to boot first), I hear the DVD drive running but then just goes right back to the 'Windows Boot Mgr" where it states to insert my windows installation disc... etc... 'boot selection failed b/c a required dedivce is inaccessible"..? I did see on the 'clean install' instructions something about downloading 2gb, then download the rest afterwards... that doesn't make much sense to me at all.... but, just wanted to let you know the outcome... :-( Not sure where to go from here? Toshiba thinks I need to send it in for them to repair/replace the hard drive and/or motherboard??

Did you try the BIOS reset I outlined in post #11 again? Also, make sure the CD/DVD drive is the first thing to boot in your BIOS.

If you continue to have to do these steps just to boot, I would agree that you should send it in. Your CMOS battery may be bad/dying, or it could be the motherboard. I do not think it is the hard disk, but it is possible.

Okay, I re-did everything in post #11. Is BIOS the same as the Setup Utility or Boot Manager? Those are the only two places I see that I can get to to change the boot order. If so, I did this again, and still back to the same screen.
