Try the following steps to see if you can get the disk check to run. Your hard disk has a lot of problems at the moment and really needs to run the check to recover bad sectors.
  1. Go into your BIOS and load default settings to clear the CMOS memory.
  2. Save Settings and exit the BIOS.
  3. Shut down and turn off the computer.
  4. Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
  5. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
  6. (If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall.
  7. Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware, and post back your results.
Also, do you have a Windows 7 installation DVD or repair disc?

You can get into the BIOS by turning the computer off, and then when it turns on, immediately start tapping F2, F10, DEL. Try one key, turn off the computer, then try a different key.

What is your motherboard or vendor (DELL, HP, GATEWAY, etc)?

For HP, F10 should start the BIOS. Tap F10 immediately after turning on the computer. You may have to tap it multiple times before the BIOS shows up. Then go to the exit section and select Load Setup Defaults. Save and Exit. Then do the other steps I outlined. Hopefully that will allow the computer to see the drive.
