dudes I am thinking not updating Windows 7 on fresh install until they fix the problems as soon I update things start crashing it's one of their update files I believe is the problem. Try that out and install your stuff see how things work as long as you got a decent firewall and av you should be ok

I was browsing MS Forums and here is what MS is telling people:

In one case, the person followed the steps and said it didn't work and the MS person simply copy and pasted the initial instructions. Overall though I expected to see alot more dedicated to this issue.

It's a shame we can't go straight to the top, unfortunately, and through no fault of their own, Microsoft answers and support are going to suggest all manner of stuff that we will have already tried.

Really, I cannot think of ANYTHING I haven't tried.

I could crush metal with my right-click finger.

Mine was a clean install, at least a clean install on a Vista drive. As in the drive was not reformatted but was not an upgrade.

Try to reformat first, then clean install upgrade as i did and i dont have that issue.

Do all your vista updates. Then the upgrade, then bring Windows 7 up-to date. Should be good to go then.

It seems to be a clash between something cause it from what ive seen around for the ones it is happening to.

I am getting the error and my install is from scratch.

I came from XP, but it wasn't an upgrade. It was a clean Windows 7 install.

I had the same problems as many people on this forum, (right clicking on desktop etc.. and windows explorer stops responding). I had tried all the mentioned suggestions for the last 2 days and finally i got it to stop by simply creating another admin user account in control panel and deleting the original, i've got all the programs and documents on that i had with original and have had no problems.
The problem 'windows explorer has stopped responding' had been happening from the moment i got win 7 working. This simple change has worked for me,don't know why? but hope it helps
