Windows 7 Completely Freezes

I have a 2-day old Dell Studio 1555 that randomly freezes 10-30 min after startup. It doesn't matter if the computer is idle or if it's being used... it just freezes. Dell has been completely useless in helping me figure it out. I've run all of the diagnostics and they're all coming out clean. I've even reinstalled windows.

I'm wondering if it would help to reformat the drive and then reinstall windows again. The first time I didn't reinstall the drive.

Anyone have any ideas? Also, it's been a long time (almost 10 years) since I did this kind of stuff, so I'm assuming that I can't just type "format c:" from the command line anymore. Any help?

Thanks,

Brooks

Hi.

You probably have too much, what I refer to as "junk" running with Windows. Or maybe it needs better drivers.

Type system information in the start menu search box. Hit enter. Ctrl+s on the screen that opens.

Rar or zip the file then attach to a post using the paperclip. I'll have a look.

Here's the System Information file. I hope you find something in there that sheds some light on this problem. There's almost nothing installed on the computer. Just Windows 7 (64-bit), AVG AntiVirus and Google Chrome.

Also, per this thread I changed the power settings to High Performance. We'll see how that works.

Thanks for all of your help!!

Uninstall AVG. It is causing all sorts of headaches of all varieties for users. Then see how it goes.

In the start menu | all programs | startup menu - delete Google Update.

In the start menu search bos, type Regedit then hit enter. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and delete IgfxTray, HotKeyCmds and Persistence.
